The Best of Backupify in 2010

Send to Kindle

It’s hard to imagine that 2010 is already coming to an end! It seems like just yesterday we were pre-series A and no where near the status we are today. In May, we were a company consisting of five employees and still based in Kentucky. Today, we’re now located in Kendall Square in Cambridge, MA with twelve employees and chugging full steam ahead with engineering and development.

It’s thanks to you, our customers, that keep us going every day. Your feature requests, feedback, complaints, support and patience as we grow fuels us to continue working hard and getting stuff done. We hope you’ve enjoyed all the new features and services that we’ve added in the past few months.

Here’s our year in review:

$900k funding round was raised early this year from VCs and angels

We switched our backup platform from PHP to Ruby on Rails

Our Google Apps backup was launched this summer

$4.5 Million Series A round of funding was completed in September

The company moved from Kentucky to Boston this fall

We hired many awesome new people including Ruby on Rails engineers, a VP of Marketing, Inside Sales Representative and more.

We launched the first ever Facebook Fan Page backup

We bought TweetBackup

We were featured prominently in publications ranging from Forbes and Inc to The Boston Globe, Tech Crunch and Ad Age.

If this is any indication to what 2011 will bring, then we can’t wait to get it started! Keep your feedback and comments coming, we love to hear them!

Here’s a sneak peak of what is to come in 2011:

Cross-account search
Google Apps restore
LinkedIn backup
FriendFeed backup

We’ve got a few more surprises up our sleeve, but we’ll keep you in suspense and announce those later.

Thanks for such a great year!

Sincerely,

The Backupify Team
