We have received a few emails asking what the service will cost after January 31st. The existing level of service will be free. Our intention is to keep that free forever. After January 31st, we will move to a freemium model and the free version of the service will come with more limitations. The premium version of the service will have more features than the existing free level of service. So if you sign up now, and you don’t need or want some of the more advanced features we will offer in the future, your account is free forever.

Wait a sec, are you saying that their isn’t any incentive to sign up before January 31st (aside from backing up your stuff sooner) and all that will be different after that is the introduction of premium features?
You get unlimited storage if you sign up now. Future free accounts won’t have that. And as far as premium features go, that is something that we (like most web companies) will constantly modify and experiment by combining them in different packages to see what people want. So I don’t really know at this point what advanced features will be part of the free accounts, and which will be part of the premium accounts.
Cool. Thanks for clearing that up. Best of luck to you guys!
What kind of “premium cost” are we looking at? Monthly, quarterly, yearly subscriptions?
Looking forward at what you guys have to offer. I love the idea of a “cloud for my cloud.”
Annual payment option will be available, right? I live in Brazil and I can make payments via PayPal or something like that?
Orkut could be part of the sites linked to the service?
Anyway, congratulations Backupify! It’s great! Thank you!
Good day Rob,
What a great service you are providing. I know my wife will like this too. She and our family are avid Facebook users. One question, in the event Facebook crashes or has a problem with our data, how does Backupify restore this data?
While data restoration be a “premium” feature – right now – I don’t see how I can restore my data from Flickr except on photo at a time.
Also – what if I want to “restore” (i.e. move) my photos from Flickr to Picasa online?
I like the awesome deal until Jan. 31 – and I hope Backupify thrives (and/or gets purchased by Google and rolled into their Data Liberation Front project.)
