The second most popular question we get asked is how our restore process works. We have thought a lot about it and the answer is that it depends on the service. For something like Flickr, we can easily push all of your photos back to your account. We are working on making this process pushbutton easy, but it isn’t done yet. For now, our programmers can do it for you.
For something like twitter, it is a little more difficult. We can easily restore the list of people you were following, but we can’t timestamp tweets, so we can really “restore” your old tweet stream. We can store it, in case you want to access it. We can re-tweet it all, but then it will all happen in the present, not when it really happened.
The truth is that restore processes will vary by service and right now, until we need to restore some of your data, the processes we are working on may not be the right ones. But rest assured that we realize the important of lost data, and that our programming team will do everything possible to help you restore your data so that we can learn what you want out of a restore process and can ultimately, over the coming months, build something that works to meet your needs.
