The desire to backup a flickr account is what planted the initial idea for the LifestreamBackup service. Backing up online accounts via APIs can sometimes be complex, and we realized that by solving the problem we could provide a valuable service to heavy lifestreamers. A regular backup of your flickr account protects you from losing important photos if your account is hacked, flickr has server failures, or even some other unexpected event. While these events are rare, it’s always better to be prepared.
To backup your flickr photos with our service, you first need to sign up. A single LifestreamBackup account can support multiple flickr accounts. After sign-up, you simply navigate to the settings page, choose “flickr” and enter your flickr user id. This will authenticate your account and allow us to perform regular backups. You can then choose daily or weekly backups based on how many pictures you upload, and request that email notifications be sent to you every time your flickr account is backed up.
With our backups, you can restore your flickr account, or you can download the flickr backup directly to your PC or Mac. You can also download individual pictures. The image in this post is a screenshot of the “archives” page for my flickr account.
If you have suggestions about how our flickr backup service can be improved, call, email, or use the feedback tab on the left side of this page.
